A separate password for GTalk (security problem )?

Google Talk Help Forum post

Very often have to use other third-party clients. For example in the iPhone.
But as the third person is not safe to give the password of mail, calendar, google checkout, blogs and other services using the Google account for authentication.

On this very much like to be able to set the password for Google Talk, to improve security.

  1. I replied on the post: "...I think so too but I think it should allow us to have at least 2 passwords. A very strong administrator one (for the whole account) and a "normal" one for 3rd party. It should also allow us to monitor what is accessing our account, set rights, and maybe also send us an email every time something wants access that we can click to allow access. "

  2. Has anyone found support for app-specific passwords within Google?

I'd also like to be able to use Google's services on third party clients, but I don't want to give out my password. A second password per service (GChat, GCal, GDocs, etc) would go a long way toward third party trust for we security "nuts".

Pardon my geek, but it's the root password for my entire life. A sign there's too much faith in Google, but I digress...

At the same time, I feel like the fat end of the bell curve just doesn't care about privacy, and will give a password to anyone with an "App" in return for digital swag.

Is there a market for such password redundancy? I would seriously like to know.
